Bobby Dobroski's CPR Journey to DobroSKILLS CPR

Updated: May 4, 2022

I made video about my journey from high school lifeguard to camp director to CPR Instructor.

Back in the late 90’s I started to work for Good Times Summer Day Camp as a camp counselor. To help make sure I kept the kids safe at the pool I became a certified Red Cross Life Guard through my high school. I watched over PE swim classes in the winter and kids at the camp in the summer.

Eventually my journey took me Bright Horizons Family Solutions. I was Preschool teacher at a center in Downtown Chicago where the center director was a Red Cross CPR instructor for the staff at the school and other Bright Horizons schools. When the director was promoted to another location outside of Chicago I asked around how I can fill the position as CPR instructor. I became a certified instructor and the organization provided me the equipment and materials.

In 2019 I decided to become a stay at home Dad with my son. There was an opportunity to be a part time contracted CPR instructor for Focus Health to make some extra money. I purchased my own equipment and taught CPR and Basic Life Support classes up until 2022 for Focus Health.

I stayed close with my former co-workers and supervisors from my time in early education. They all kept asking me when I was going to start my own CPR training company. After talking with my wife and friends they convinced me that I was ready for my next professional challenge. At the end of January 2022 I set up my own LLC and designed my website. I now offer CPR classes and Basic Life Support Classes to the public and private employers and groups as an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider as DobroSKILLS!
